welcome home sweet baby

The grandmas decorated our vehicle so we could have a festive ride!  Then Rowan arrived to his temporary home-our apartment in Swansea, IL.

We had a lot of visitors when we got home.  We loved the food, outfits and good company everyone brought... thank you!

My apologies... I did miss out on taking pictures with some special visitors though, who knows where my mommy mind was.  But here are the ones I did get:

Gram-E and Grandpa Dennis

Grandma Fischer (Mimi)

Grandpa Fischer

Uncle Christian

John and Amanda

Beth and Nick

Lindsey

Great Grandpa Fehrmann

Great Granny Fehrmann

Cousin Courtney and Great Aunt Diane

Great Aunt Vonda

the new GUY in town

Introducing ROWAN GUY FISCHER!!!

Rowan Guy Fischer was born on March 24th, 2010 at 11:20 PM.  Weighing in at 8 pounds, 1 ounce and measuring 20 inches long,  Rowan has proved that the best gifts do come in small packages.  You try all you can to prepare yourself for this kind of event, but nothing can describe the feeling of overwhelming love and pride you experience when your child is born.  We couldn't be happier and are loving every moment of parenthood thus far; we'll check back in when he gets his driver's license!  Here are a few more pics of Rowan at the hospital:

Daddy got to change Rowan's 1st dirty diaper! :)

Here are SOME of the visitors we had at the hospital:

Grandma Fischer

Grandpa Fehrmann and Grandma Karen

Gram-E and Grandpa Dennis

Uncle Kylre

Great Grandparents Richter

Marla

Yes, he loves his mommy!

Newborn pictures wore him out.

Before we left Daddy helped Rowan leave his footprint on the wall right next to room 114, just like our house number.

Headed home after a 2-day stay at Anderson.

home sweet home

On February 5th, 2010, we closed on our first home!  The house was built in 1920 and is located in Edwardsville, IL; the 3rd oldest city in IL.  Our house is located in the St. Louis Street Historical District, giving it that "old world charm."  The house is 1600 square feet, 4 bedrooms (soon to be 3 bedrooms because we are making 2 rooms a master suite), 1.5 baths (soon to be 2.5 baths with the master suite add) and definitely needs some work done.  But with its great location and character, our sweat equity will be worth it... we just couldn't pass up the deal.  So remodeling has started (inside and out) and we hope to be moving in mid-May to early-June.  For now, here are a couple of before pictures (in some you really have to use your imagination.)

Front Foyer

Family Room

Dining Room

Kitchen

Master Bedroom (2 pics will be 1 room)

Guest Bedroom/Office

Baby's Room

Common Bathroom (upstairs)

Collin carried me over the threshold the first day we went into the house as official homeowners (keep in mind I was almost 8 months pregnant... bless his heart).

That's it for now... at least it gives you an idea of what we are doing.  We hope to have lots of visitors when it's finished, so don't forget us in your Summer plans!
